This is the artist talk I gave on Friday, February 2, 2024 at the opening reception of my first solo exhibition in the Bradley Gallery of the Arts at Lakeland University in Plymouth, WI. A friend took a video of the original speech at the gallery but it was too large to upload and share.
About 80 people came to the reception, half of them University students who were earning a credit for being there. Friends and family came because they love me and were excited for me. 5 of them bought my book (which is on a massive sale during this exhibition month) and they all got a hug from me. (Family and friends, not students!)
I wasn’t able to take photographs during the show but here are some taken by others:
My husband and I installed the whole show by ourselves the preceding Monday. We’d never done anything like that before but we did a great job. 46 pieces and all the gallery tags hung in 6 hours. Here are a few photos of us in action:
If I was closer, I would have come. You are SO creative but it's not just that, your social commentary is very thought provoking. Amazing. The show looks wonderful.
Very interesting and fascinating video. Your photos are so unique, I love hearing about your process in making the final photos. Thank you!
