Making Faces in the Mirror
My favorite coping mechanism
I’ve been making faces in the mirror since I was a little kid. I never grew out of it and still entertain myself with these faces to this day. I turned 65 on May 5, 2024 and guarantee I will be making these faces into my 100’s.
It makes me laugh.
It cheers me up.
Embrace the Ridiculous!
Face yoga for stress relief, I highly recommend it.
Which one is your mood today? I’m feeling 5th row, 4th pic after watching the news.
Lately I’m stressed and overwhelmed by the state of the world, violence affecting children and innocents, the threat of a presidential redo for He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named, irreversible climate change, being forced to make important life-changing decisions on Medicare when I hear conflicting facts and threats of penalties, unable to retire yet when every ounce of my being wants it, remembering mistakes of the past that I wish never happened, worrying about mistakes of the future that are out of my control, watching my body aging rapidly in the mirror, fear of my muddle-headedness being the onset of dementia, fear of how I will be cared for when maybe someday I am unable to care for myself, missing those who are gone, missing those who are still around but distant, wishing some people would be gone, guilt for that thought, wanting to silence all the voices of the internet who feed on fear and anger, and desperately needing a daily walk in the woods.
I wish I could see your funny faces. Message me with one. I need the Laugh Therapy!
Or talk to me in the comments below. Tell me a story. Make me smile.

Love the photos. And you have lots of celebrity company. I've heard Charles Dickens made faces in the mirror in order to come up with and get to know his characters (he was an actor, too). Rowan Atkinson apparently discovered Mr. Bean by making faces in a mirror, too.
I will never think that 3rd row, 5th pic isn't hilarious. There's some effort involved in that. And, sure, I learned it when I was 8, but the classics are the classics for a reason.
4th row, 1st pic -- apparently there are people who cannot do that tongue thingee. Maybe it's something to with genetics or something. Apparently tongue skills are an inherited behavior. (Don't even say anything.)
I'm currently 5th row, 5th pic, but I usually cycle through most of these every day.
Thanks for sharing your face.
