Wow Cindy, I saw Yvette's email yesterday and went on Instagram to see the actual story. This is just so exciting! With all the assaults by Humans of DC we've been subjected to in the past 100 days, it's wonderfully exhilarating to feel that something is still right with the world! How crazy that Brandon Stanton found you literally in Grand Central Station! I don't know if you'll be able to quit your day job but I hope that the recognition and affirmation of you as an artist brings you great satisfaction and emotional sustenance. I hope it's not presumptuous of me to say that I'm very proud of you! Brava!
Thank you for your kind words, support and friendship. I found out that I screwed up on this Substack article somehow. Image Not Found...and the next paragraph was some sort of tiny font like a caption under that lost image. It sat here for 2 hours while hundreds of strangers looked at it, maybe judged me, and some unsubscribed their free access. LOL! Hubby pointed out the posting problem and I fixed it. Brandon maybe saw it too. D'oh! I guess I'll stick with my day job until I retire on April 1, 2026.
Hi Cindy! First of all, Congratulations! You deserve all the recognition and attention for your incredible art. I'm going to fangirl on you... I discovered you on IG via Humans of NY (Thank you, Brandon Stanton!) which led me to your website and your Substack and I followed you. Then you came to my baby Substack (only 6-weeks old) and commented on one of my posts. I was gushing to my husband yesterday about how this phenomenal photographer, whose photographs resonate with me on every level, who is such an inspiration and a true mentor/matriarch for other women, she has found little ole me. And she commented! How can this incredibly busy and talented woman have time to comment on something I posted!? All this to say, THANK YOU for sharing your thoughts and I hope I get to meet you one day. One of my dearest friends lives in West Allis so who knows? Or perhaps you'll have an exhibit of your work in Southern California?
Holy smokes, how cool is this. I followed them for years, but I'm not on Instagram or FB anymore so kind of have lost track. What a great story you have to tell! And this is how I end up following so many accounts.
That is so cool. Getting to meet some one whose work you admire doesn’t always work out like this. Best of luck. I live across the river from Beacon. Next time you are headed this way let me know.
Hi Charlie! We ate at a restaurant in Newburg across the river a couple of years ago. I think we also visited a huge vintage item mall. I'll definitely let you know next time we go!

Yes! I never had a story like this to tell before! It's a wild ride.
I’m so happy for you! Absolutely well deserved. And I love this piece, your writing and humor are t’riffic!
